Alaska & BC, Canada

Here are a few highlights from our family vacation to Alaska and Canada.

Dinner in the dining room on Canada Day. We played a lot of "telephone" while waiting for food.

Unlimited drinks package = lots of virgin smoothies

1st stop: Juneau
We enjoyed a private tour of Juneau by our taxi driver, Michael. And we ended our day mining for gold and hiking in a magical fairy and gnome forest.

1st day at sea included swimming, dance classes, shopping, spa time, board games, eating, enjoying the views, cards, kids club, onboard art classes, running around the track, and exercise on these eliptacles.

Life Lessons while sitting at dinner:

"If you go to the right source, you won’t get diarrhea."

-Mike, referring to the pure source of water and information

2nd Stop: Skagway
THIS is the place to be on July 4th! The parade is so good that it goes up the street and then turns around and comes back down. We made a point to sit right by the parade announcers, which did not disappoint. We enjoyed a bus ride up a beautiful road to the Yukon, drank fresh water from the falls, and then hiked to "Magic Lake." Not sure the real name of the lake, but it was magical to us. Also, met Bob, our favorite knife salesman... our only regret is that we didn't buy even more knives from him.
Ate at the steak house and had authentic Baked Alaskan.

Daniel: These guys are real. They don’t just live by a city and act like lumberjacks

James: That's ok. We live by a city and act like cowboys.

3rd Stop: Ketchikan. We started the day by buying matching t-shirts, winning a post card at the Lumberjack show, and eating lunch at a crab feast.

10:30 pm and we enjoyed the most brilliant sun set from the ship.

Johns Hopkins Glacier

Brilliant blue skies at Glacier Bay National Park

2nd day at sea: Polar bear plunge & spa day for the birthday boy.

Grouse Mountain is our new favorite place! It is this hidden gem 18 min from the port in Vancouver. We hiked the "Grind," enjoyed zip lining, a high ropes course, bears, a gondola, and beautiful views.
